Catholic schools well-suited for the future

It is an exciting time for education in Alberta.

Over the past months, Alberta's Catholic schools have been on a journey. We have embarked on a journey with the Alberta government, Alberta Education, key stakeholders in Alberta education, and with the members of our Catholic education communities. Most of this journey has taken place through the Alberta government's Inspiring Education program.

One of the great benefits of being part of a project such as this is that within this process we are able to take stock of our history - where we have come from - and make note of how we will contribute to the future of education in Alberta. And, Alberta's Catholic schools will be great contributors to the future of education in Alberta.

As members of our Catholic school communities, we are fortunate to have a long tradition of history and success supporting us. Publicly-funded Catholic schools, governed by boards of elected Catholic trustees, are a vital asset to our education system in Alberta. This has been recognized through Alberta's Catholic schools continued recognition in the Minister's Education Leadership Recognition Awards program. Our Catholic schools receive a large number of the available awards.

As well as through the continued success of Catholic students many of whom have become leaders locally, provincially, nationally, and internationally. Our students are globally-aware, responsible citizens.

As we move forward into the future, Alberta's Catholic schools are prepared to continue to provide the same high quality faith-based education that they have always provided.

Alberta's Catholic schools are places of diversity and adapatability. Their specialized programming for students of all abilities has been recognized both provincially and nationally.

It is these types of attributes that ensure that our Catholic schools will continue to succeed and remain a valuable part of Alberta's publicly-funded education system.
